Stepping foot onto the grass, hearing your favorite music, and meeting the gaze of your friends' smiling faces upon your arrival at Deep Tropics will undoubtedly make you forget the fact that you’re in the center of the busy city in Nashville, Tennessee. The hustle and bustle of street lights and traffic fade to the background as your mind melts into the colorful paradise of creativity and rhythm.
As a Deep Tropics veteran returning for the third year, and as a Nashville local, I feel the utmost confidence in saying that this festival stands as my favorite non-camping event each year. I can always tell how much time, energy, and love is put into creating this experience for their patrons.
Deep Tropics never misses a beat on their lineups, organization, safety, or cleanliness. Their message to stay kind to the environment by giving out free reusable cups to everyone is one of my favorite things i’ve experienced. It positively impacts the amount of waste their clean up crew has to take care of. I don’t think I've ever seen a piece of trash left on the ground in the years I've attended thus far, and that’s an impressive feat. There are so many more incredible features that help our environment because of their dedication, and you have to experience it yourself to fully grasp how beautiful that movement is.
This event and the venue holds such an important place in my heart because of all of the
cherished memories that have been created there. I am eternally grateful to attend this event with The Festival Babes. Some of my fondest moments to look back on have been walking the 2023 Deep Tropics Mamie Ruth fashion show, having a spiritual experience at my first Of The Trees set in 2022 at the Lotus Stage, my photoshoots and meet-ups with The Festival Babes, and all of the pre-parties and after-parties hosted. One of my favorite parts of all is getting to go back home (or to a hotel) to shower and sleep in a real bed after each day and night of fun!
The excitement for Deep Tropics 2024 continues to build inside of me, as I count down the days until I see some of my favorite artists, such as Zingara, Peekaboo, Tape B, and Valleria at the Lotus Stage. There are even more talented musicians to check out on their other two stages, the Meru Amphitheater, and the Congo Soundsystem.
There have been too many synchronistic moments and connections that Deep Tropics has brought to fruition over the years that I couldn’t begin to explain, and there’s so many things to explore while visiting that it would be impossible for me to share them all in a way that would allow someone to grasp how magical Deep Tropics is, down to the last detail. It’s something you have to see to believe for yourself, and I can guarantee it’s worth it.
Remember to stay hydrated in the Tennessee heat by using their reusable cups and free filtered water, take care of your body by visiting their delicious food vendors and the air conditioned dome, and open your mind by taking in the indescribable art and music they have to offer!
