Over the Hulaween weekend, Phil Lesh, the beloved bassist and founding member of The Grateful Dead, passed away peacefully. His deep connection with The String Cheese Incident, the festival’s creators and renowned musicians, enriched both their music and the community.
On Sunday, Bob Weir, Phil’s bandmate in The Grateful Dead, joined The String Cheese Incident on stage for a historic two-set performance, aptly named the Bobby Weir Incident. During the show, they paid tribute to Phil’s legacy with a heartfelt rendition of “Box of Rain,” accompanied by images celebrating his life.
In the wake of a weekend marked by both severe storms and this profound loss, The String Cheese Incident and the Hulaween team understood the need for a deeply uplifting experience. The Bobby Weir Incident’s closing performance beautifully honored Phil and the fans who loved him.
From the depths of our hearts, we are grateful to have witnessed such a magical weekend and performance. Thank you, Bob Weir and The String Cheese Incident, for this unforgettable tribute.
