FROM SVEN TO SARA: HIGHLIGHTS AND CHAOS FROM TIME WARP NYC 🌃🗽

FROM SVEN TO SARA: HIGHLIGHTS AND CHAOS FROM TIME WARP NYC 🌃🗽

Written by: Anna Loumbrozo

Time Warp NYC returned to the Brooklyn Storehouse on November 21–22 for another two-night showcase of world-class techno and house. Hosted by Teksupport, the annual event once again featured a dual-stage format, pairing established icons with rising talent across its curated lineup.  Stage 1 leaned towards house and groovy beats, while Stage 2 delivered face-melting techno.

This year’s lineup had everyone buzzing with icons like Sven Väth and Dennis Ferrer anchoring the bill, while techno titans Sara Landry and Nico Moreno ensured things stayed hard, fast, and unapologetically loud.

Friday Highlights

Friday’s programming featured a dominating performance from Nico Moreno, whose set brought high-intensity momentum to Stage 2.  “Papa Sven” graced us with a technically refined and characteristically immersive session on Stage 1. The standout set of the night? DJ Heartstring b2b Partiboi69 with one of the night’s most energetic and crowd-pleasing sets.

Saturday Highlights

Saturday was a moment for the women of techno. Stage 2 felt like a celebration of pure, uncompromising energy. YES LADIES! SPFDJ’s fast-paced set kept the floor engaged from start to finish, highlighted by her dynamic remix of “Smack My Bitch Up”.  Deborah De Luca maintained the energy before Sara Landry, the absolute Queen of Techno, closed with one of the festival’s most commanding performances. Not only does Sara’s music keep the crowd feral, but her stage presence alone is a hypnotizing performance and watching her work up there is definitely part of the thrill.  Throughout the weekend, many artists incorporated acid-influenced selections and pop remixes across sets, adding stylistic diversity to the overall sound.

Not Everything Was A Hit…

Not every moment was magic though.  Despite the stacked lineup, two of the festival’s back-to-back (b2b) sets were less successful. The Blessed Madonna b2b Mike Servito on Friday and the highly anticipated Beltran b2b Ben Sterling on Saturday felt a bit disjointed at times.  Still, Stage 1 stayed slammed from open to close.

The Venue Situation

As in previous years, the Brooklyn Storehouse venue received mixed feedback. Improvements were made since last year, but it continues to be a logistical nightmare to get to, and an even bigger nightmare to escape from at the end of the night.  The porta-potty situation? Still brutal. At this point, the refusal to bring in proper bathroom trailers is simply a huge deterrent. Most people I know feel the same: amazing parties can happen there, but unless the lineup is irresistible, there are easier, more comfortable places to dance in NYC. Despite these issues, the atmosphere inside the event was positive, with a crowd that remained enthusiastic and engaged. We do it…for the love of the music.

Wrap-Up

Ultimately, the weekend delivered the hallmark elements Time Warp is known for: high-caliber performances, strong community energy, and moments shared on the dancefloor. The best part? Meeting up with friends (front left always!) and unexpectedly running into more friends in between stages! I hope to attend a European edition of Time Warp one day to compare and contrast what has become a near ritual event for us here in NYC.  Until next time!
