Avast ye mateys! It’s that time of year again for the can’t-miss event of the season; the Washington Midsummer Ren Faire. After spending a weekend with the jauntiest pirates on the high seas, I feel prepared to show you our list of 5 things you just have to see to believe! From food that makes you drool more than a mythical beast to shows that have you more entertained and intrigued than your local tomato pelting, let’s get into it!
#1- The Clergy of Errors
Prepare (or even better…don’t!) for this comedic improv troupe specializing in “not safe for church” humor. These off the wall monks are as quick as they come, and their- erm, interesting, worship song style is sure to have you rolling with laughter.
#2- Tiny Girl Big Show
The name of the show couldn’t be more fitting! Watch Leah, an acrobat extraordinaire, contort into shapes seemly impossible. No trick is too tiny, no pun intended, for this absolute powerhouse! With her seemingly ever-growing portfolio of talent, each time you see this show is sure to be new and exciting.
#3- Supernova the Strongwoman
Coming from a long line of strong women, Supernova no doubt makes her ancestors proud. With excellent crowd engagement and feats that make it hard to even blink as to not miss, your day MUST include a seat at this human demolition truck’s show! If you’re lucky, you might even meet her dragon!
#4- Jousting
A ren faire classic: the jousting is not to be missed! Saddle up for a high energy environment and prepare to scream with your team for your knight to carry you to victory. This is no smoke and mirrors show, prepare for full contact jousts and the ringing of swords! Man, there’s just something about a man in armor right?
#5- The Knight Club
Presented by High Fantasy Events, this is the after-dark cherry to your day. With cider and mead in hand, get ready to dance the night away! Acrobats, drag shows, fire dancers & other acts sure to have you peeking through your fingers. That raunchy bustier you’ve been saving? Yeah babe, this is the event to wear it to!
