When you’re dancing for hours, you’re going to need makeup that is budge-proof and sweat-proof. The last thing you want is faded glitter ruining your festival vibes. Raves are all about self-expression and nonstop dancing. With all the excitement, it can be difficult to keep your makeup intact till the sunrise. Here are some tips to help you slay your makeup game while ensuring it lasts all night.
1. Primer
The foundation of any long-lasting look starts with a good primer. Use a mattifying primer if you have oily skin, or a hydrating primer if you have dry skin. Starting out with a smooth base will prevent your makeup from melting off while you dance. If you’re planning on doing an eye look, make sure to invest in an eyeshadow primer as well. The eyeshadow primer will make the colors pop and keep your look crease-free.
2. Waterproof Products
Consider choosing waterproof products like waterproof foundation, concealer, or mascara. Waterproof products are designed to withstand hours of movement. You won’t have to worry about sweating, or even rain, if you choose to go the waterproof route. However, they can be more challenging to remove at the end of the night so consider pairing them with a high-quality makeup remover to make your nighttime routine easier.
3. Lip Stain
A bold lip can make your look stand out, but after hours of talking, dancing, eating and drinking… your typical lipstick might be long gone. Go for a lip stain instead. Lip stains will actually tint your lips, so even if the product itself wears off, you’re still left with a lasting pop of color. Plus, you won’t have to worry about digging through your bag to find your lipstick to reapply.
4. Glitter
Glitter is a rave essential of course, but how you apply it will affect how long it lasts. Make sure to use cosmetic-grade glitter and safe adhesive like glitter glue to keep it from falling out or migrating on your face. Avoid using eyelash glue for glitter as this will remain sticky on your skin even after it dries down. People sometimes use vaseline to apply glitter, but I would also avoid that method as it won’t last long. Glitter glue is a must. Apply glitter to your eyelids, cheekbones, or even all over if you’re feeling it.
5. Setting Spray
Make sure to finish off your makeup with a long-lasting setting spray. Look for setting sprays with sweat-resistant or waterproof formulas so that your look will be locked in place. The setting spray will prevent your makeup from fading or sweating off later. This is a crucial step in making sure your makeup lasts all night.
