Last Saturday, we found ourselves in the beautiful Joshua Tree Desert to celebrate Mojave Grey’s debut album release, Monument. The event, held at the intimate Kitchen in the Desert, was more than just an album release — it was a full sensory experience that truly encapsulated the duo’s unique “desert dance” vibe.
Arriving at the venue for the live sunset performance at Coyote Lake as the sun dipped below the horizon, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Joshua Tree’s desert landscape, with its iconic twisted trees and rock formations, served as the backdrop for an unforgettable night. It was the kind of setting that makes you stop and take it all in for a moment. You could feel the buzz in the air—fans were gathering from all over, some locals, others, like us, who’d driven for hours. We all knew this was going to be something truly special.
The night started with tracks from the new album, and right away, you could feel the connection between the music and the desert. Mojave Grey’s sound is so unique — like they’ve somehow bottled up the essence of Joshua Tree. Zander Bleck’s vocals and Michael Pozzi’s guitar added this raw, emotional edge that fit the setting perfectly. They played songs like “Faith” and “Feel Alive” which pulled us into moments of pure joy.
For me, the highlight moment had to be hearing “There’s A Way” live. That track hits hard, but out there in the desert? It was next level. Everyone around me was just completely in it—soaking it all up.
Beyond the two unique performances, the event itself felt like a celebration of community. To attend the first event, we were sent a string of GPS coordinates to find its location on Coyote Lake. The second evening event was at Kitchen in the Desert, a vibey restaurant with delicious cocktails and open-air seating. The artists were incredibly warm and personable, making it clear that this wasn’t just an album launch but a personal milestone for them.

For us, the combination of Mojave Grey’s desert-inspired sound and the stunning setting made this event unforgettable. Joshua Tree has always had a magnetic, almost spiritual energy, and it was easy to see how it inspired Monument. The album, much like the event, is a journey—a reminder to find beauty and depth in both the music and the moment.
If you get the chance to experience Mojave Grey live, especially in a setting like this, don’t hesitate. Their music feels like it belongs in the desert, where every beat becomes part of nature.
