If there’s one event that truly embodied the essence of Miami’s amazing energy during the infamous Art Basel week, it was Factory Basel 2024. Nearly a week-long celebration which began on Thursday evening 12/5/24 and didn’t stop until the sunrise on Monday morning 12/9/24. Spanning 4 different stages, intimate room takeovers, and stunning immersive art installations in their warehouse, Factory Basel understood the assignment for Art Basel.
Thursday: The Warm-Up for Factory Basel Begins
Factory Basel kicked off in style on Thursday evening with a bang. The first event with different stage takeovers of the festival really set the tone for what was to come for the rest of the week. Eastenderz Showcase took over the Cypress End stage with legendary sets from Chase West, East End Dubs, and Ranger Trucco. If you love minimal house then this was the spot for you. Meanwhile, over at the main stage: Infinity Room, there was a Golfos Takeover which gave the attendees a taste of Denniz Cruz & Pawsa since this is there duo act together. Lastly, there was the Park Stage but this time they utilized the back of the stage and had an Art Cart similar to one you’ve probably seen on instagram from Burning Man it was BEAUTIFUL!
Friday: New Spaces, New Vibes
By Friday, the festival was in full swing. The LINK Miami Rebels (LBR) takeovers across two stages was nothing short of extreordinary, bringing some of the best underground talent to one of the most iconic stages in the festival. But what really blew us away was the addition of the Chain Room, located near the old Espacio Proximo stage. This new layout was a game-changer. The space felt more open, allowing for a bigger dance floor and a fresh perspective on the festival’s unique industrial atmosphere.
The B3K Invites session also delivered on Friday with performances from Brutalismus 3000 and a mind-blowing B2B set from Vtss and Boys Noize. This was a perfect combination of raw, driving techno and hard-hitting beats, and the crowd was eating it up. The space was packed with techno lovers and the energy was amazing!
Saturday: Circo Loco Takeover – Three Stages of Pure Beats
Saturday was when Factory Basel truly flexed its muscle. The entire festival felt alive with the Circo Loco Takeover, which spanned across three stages. The festival’s signature red accents illuminated the space all over Factory Town, giving the entire venue a surreal, almost futuristic feel.
The Cypress End stage was home to The Other Side Takeover where acts like Ion Ludwig (Live) performed. Honestly, the real magic was in how seamlessly each stage and takeover blended into one another, keeping the energy flowing and the crowd moving all throughout the festival. This new layout definitely helped with crowd flow.
Sunday: Unbelievable Back-to-Back Surprises
By Sunday, Factory Basel’s momentum had hit its climax. This was the very last day technically of the festival. The festival was firing on all cylinders, with back-to-back stage takeovers from some of the most iconic names in electronic music history. The El Row traveling party company brought their colorful, immersive Hallucinarium stage takeover to the Park Stage, bringing their signature high-energy, chicken costumes, and trippy backgrounds with lots and lots of confetti cannons.
Next up, Revival NY took over the Chain Room, while Adriatique Presents X at the Infinity Room brought one of the weekend’s most unforgettable moments: a surprise B3B with Rufus Du Sol, Adriatique, and WhoMadeWho. The set was nothing short of mesmerizing, with these three icons bouncing off one another on the DJ decks.
And, just when we thought we had seen it all, the FUSE Takeover at the Cypress End Stage closed out Sunday with an epic bang, keeping the dancefloor alive well into the early hours at 6am.
Art Meets Music: A Complete Immersive Experience
What set Factory Basel apart wasn’t just the stacked music lineup, butnit was the way they were able to infuse art with the entire festival experience. The Trippy Labs did an art installation takeover in warehouse space, offering a one-of-a-kind immersive experience where attendees could explore live art and installations. Usually this space is used as a stage so it was so cool to see it come alive with art this time around. This was a true homage to Art Basel week, where the worlds of music and visual art are able to collide like no other.
Inside, Tafari World also did a super dope pop up shop, adding a unique touch to the overall festival experience. And if you’re into drinks as much as the beats, Factory Basel had an activation booth for Travis Scott’s Cacti Tequila Seltzer, giving festival-goers a chance to try out the drink and take cute photos in their photo op corner.
The Mokibaby Bus: The Ultimate Chill Zone
One of the signature features of Factory Basel was the Mokibaby Bus—an iconic, decked-out old -school party bus where attendees could take a break between sets, chill, or even snap some epic photos/videos with their rave crew. This is quite literally one of the best places to recharge before catching your next set.
The Heart of Miami – Factory Town, Hialeah
Factory Basel truly brought the Miami heat to Factory Town in Hialeah, Florida where it’s located. It’s been amazing to see this space grow over the last few years and the Link Miami rebel team has done an outstanding job with reinventing this space to what it is now. As the sun rose one last time on Monday morning, with the sounds of Adriatique still in the air, it was clear that this was one Factory Basel for the books.
We can’t wait to return to the heart of Miami soon for another unforgettable experience here at Factory Town! They do quite a few events year round, if you missed your chance to go to Basel, Factory Town will be hosting their own New Years Event now later this month. Until next time Miami!
