Head Trip 2026 Was Everywhere This Weekend, and Now We Know Why
If you’ve been anywhere near social media this past weekend, chances are you’ve seen the videos.
The lasers. The massive stage. The insane lineup. Thousands of people dancing in the California desert.
And let me tell you, as incredible as those videos looked, there’s something about experiencing a festival like this in person that a phone screen will never fully capture.
Taking over the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, October 10–11, Head Trip 2026 brought together some of the biggest names in electronic music for a weekend that felt almost too good to be true.
Between the music, the production, the energy of the crowd, and a few unexpected surprises, Head Trip gave us a weekend that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
And now that it’s over, I think we can all agree on one thing.
I need to do that again.
The Internet Wasn’t Ready for Head Trip
One of the funniest parts about being at a festival like Head Trip is knowing that somewhere out there, thousands of people are watching the exact same moments through their phones.
And honestly? I don’t blame them.
But what made Head Trip so special wasn’t just how incredible everything looked on camera.
It was how it felt.
There’s something almost impossible to explain about standing in the middle of a crowd, surrounded by thousands of people who are just as excited as you are, and feeling the entire dance floor erupt when a familiar track comes on.
Those are the moments we chase and Head Trip delivered plenty of them.
While Instagram and TikTok were filling up with videos of the production, the real magic was happening right there in the desert.
Because no matter how many times you replay those clips, they still can’t recreate the feeling of actually being there.
Can We Talk About That Lineup?!
Okay, let’s take a second to appreciate what Head Trip managed to pull off.
FISHER and Chris Lake. Skrillex. Calvin Harris. Swedish House Mafia. Dom Dolla b2b KETTAMA. Peggy Gou b2b Four Tet.
All in one weekend.
It’s the kind of lineup you’d normally expect to see spread across several different festival stages, except Head Trip brought everyone together for one massive shared experience.
And that might have been one of my favorite things about the entire festival.
There was no stressing over overlapping headliners, no running across the grounds trying to catch the last twenty minutes of another set, and no sacrificing one favorite artist for another.
Instead, we got to experience these incredible performances together.
And the energy? Absolutely unreal.
From the house grooves that kept everyone moving to the heavier moments that had the crowd completely losing it, the weekend was a reminder of just how powerful electronic music can be.
Skrillex brought his unmistakable energy, Calvin Harris delivered the kind of tracks that had everyone singing along, and Swedish House Mafia gave us a closing performance worthy of the massive stage behind them.
There’s nothing quite like hearing songs you’ve loved for years played through a festival sound system while thousands of strangers sing along beside you.
It’s one of those feelings that never gets old and gets you hooked on the idea of “we need to do that AGAIN!”
The Lasers Deserve Their Own Headlining Slot
Head Trips lasers were doing the MOST in the best way possible.
The enormous stage already looked impressive during the day, but once the sun went down, the entire atmosphere transformed.
Lasers stretched across the crowd, lights illuminated the desert sky, and bursts of fire added even more intensity to the music.
There were moments when it was genuinely hard to decide whether to watch the DJ, stare at the stage, or turn around and take in the thousands of people dancing behind you.
And honestly, that’s a pretty good problem to have.
What I loved was how the production complemented the music. Those massive drops felt even bigger when the lighting and lasers hit at just the right moment.
You know those festival moments when you look at your friends with your mouth wide open because you genuinely can’t believe what you’re witnessing?
Yeah. Those moments.
Over and over again.
And while the videos circulating online looked incredible, experiencing that scale of production in person was a completely different feeling.
Some things just have to be experienced to be understood.
Even Mother Nature Couldn’t Stop the Party
Of course, no festival weekend is complete without a little unexpected chaos.
And apparently, Mother Nature wanted to be part of the Head Trip lineup too ( just like every other festival this year…)
Saturday night took an unexpected turn when lightning forced organizers to evacuate the festival grounds during FISHER and Chris Lake’s Under Construction set.
Unfortunately, the weather meant the remainder of Saturday’s performances had to be canceled, including Calvin Harris.
Definitely not the plot twist anyone was hoping for.
ALTHOUGH, Instead of letting the weekend end on a disappointing note, organizers worked Calvin Harris into Sunday’s schedule!
Which meant Sunday suddenly included Dom Dolla b2b KETTAMA, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and Swedish House Mafia.
Yes, thats right, all in one night.
And if there was ever a way to turn an unfortunate situation into an unforgettable comeback, that was it.
The energy surrounding Sunday’s performances was something special. After the uncertainty of Saturday night, there was an even greater sense of excitement about getting back onto the dance floor.
Sometimes festivals don’t go exactly according to plan.
But occasionally, those unexpected moments become part of what makes the weekend so memorable.
It’s Not Just About the DJs
As much as we all love a stacked lineup and incredible production, there’s another reason festivals like Head Trip leave such a lasting impression.
The people.
It’s the strangers who become your friends halfway through a set.
The random conversations between performances.
The moment you look around and realize everyone is experiencing the same music, the same excitement, and the same ridiculous amount of happiness.
It’s the little things that never make it into the official recap videos.
And that’s what I love most about festival culture.
For a couple of days, thousands of people from different places and different backgrounds come together because of one shared love: music.
You don’t need to know the person dancing next to you to share a moment with them.
Sometimes all it takes is one really good drop or giving a stranger a random trinket.
And suddenly, you’re best friends.
Head Trip had all the ingredients of an incredible festival, but it was that shared energy that made the experience feel so memorable.
So… Are We Doing This Again Next Year?
Now comes the question I think a lot of us are asking.
When’s the next Head Trip?!
Here’s the thing. Head Trip was originally promoted as a one-time-only event.
And after experiencing what this festival brought to the desert, I’m really hoping the organizers reconsider.
Because how do you create something this incredible and expect us to just move on with our lives?
Between the lineup, the production, the unforgettable performances, and the energy of the crowd, Head Trip showed just how exciting a festival can be when everything comes together.
Sure, there were unexpected challenges along the way.
But even those became part of the story.
And if there’s one thing this weekend proved, it’s that people live for experiences like this.
Festivals that bring together incredible artists, ambitious production, and a crowd that’s genuinely there for the music.
So if Head Trip ever announces another edition, consider this your sign to put it on your festival bucket list.
Because while the internet did an incredible job showing everyone what they missed, I can promise you one thing.
Those videos don’t even come close to capturing the magic of being there.
Head Trip 2026, you were something special.
Our camera rolls are full, our feet are tired, and we’re already wishing we could do it all over again.
Until next time, Head Trip. Hopefully, there is a next time. ✨
