Well, we officially entered Secret Dreams last weekend and it was even better than we imagined.
After months of anticipation, lineup debates, outfit planning, set time conflicts, and telling our friends that yes, they absolutely needed to come to this festival, Secret Dreams 2026 has officially come to an end.
And honestly? We’re already missing it.
The fifth annual Secret Dreams Music & Arts Festival brought thousands of dreamers, bass heads, jam fans, artists, creatives, and festival lovers together at its brand-new home at The Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio, September 4–6.
After several years at Legend Valley, moving to a completely new venue was a big change for the festival. But Secret Dreams managed to bring the same unique, creative, welcoming energy that people have come to know while giving the festival an entirely new playground to work with.
And with a lineup featuring Pretty Lights, Of The Trees, Tape B, Daily Bread, CloZee, Detox Unit, INZO, Wonky Llama, Lettuce, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, EARTHGANG, Gramatik, Flamingosis, Mr. Bill, Maddy O’Neal, Dogs In A Pile and so many more, there was no shortage of reasons to spend the weekend dancing.
A New Home, A New Chapter
The biggest question heading into Secret Dreams 2026 was simple:
How would Secret Dreams feel somewhere new?
The answer? Still very much like Secret Dreams.
The move to The Cardinal Center marked a new chapter for the festival, and the new venue offered more room for camping, art, installations, wandering, and exploring. The festival itself highlighted larger GA car camping spots, upgraded RV camping, fewer hills, an expanded Phantasmagoria Woods, and an upgraded entrance experience as some of the changes attendees could expect at the new location.
And while every festival has its little growing pains when moving into a new home, there was something exciting about experiencing Secret Dreams in a space that was completely new to everyone.
No one knew exactly where the weekend would take them.
Which is kind of the point.
The Music Did Not Disappoint
If you came to Secret Dreams for the music, you definitely got your money’s worth.
The weekend was packed with everything from heavy bass and experimental electronic music to funk, jam, hip-hop, and live instrumentation. With three stages plus the Woods, there was always something happening somewhere.
Pretty Lights was, unsurprisingly, one of the biggest moments of the weekend.
With two festival performances on the schedule, fans got multiple opportunities to experience the Pretty Lights Live sound system in the middle of the Secret Dreams atmosphere. Saturday night’s set was especially one of those moments where it felt like the entire festival had gathered in one place.
And then there was Wonky Llama.
The Jade Cicada and Schmoop collaboration made its festival debut at Secret Dreams, giving attendees the first chance to experience the project in a festival setting.
Elsewhere, Of The Trees, Tape B, Daily Bread, INZO, Detox Unit, CloZee, Mr. Bill, Lettuce, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, EARTHGANG, Gramatik, Flamingosis, Dogs In A Pile and countless others kept the weekend moving in completely different directions.
The best part?
You could go into the weekend thinking you knew exactly what you wanted to see and still walk away talking about an artist you randomly stumbled upon.
The Set Time Struggle Was Real
Of course, no festival with a lineup this stacked comes without one major problem:
How are we supposed to see everyone?
Secret Dreams gave us the classic festival dilemma of having three artists you desperately want to see playing at the same time.
Pretty Lights or Wonky Llama?
EarthGang or SunSquabi?
Lettuce or something happening at the Lucid Stage?
At some point, you just have to accept that you’re going to miss something.
And honestly, that’s part of the fun.
Secret Dreams rewards wandering. Some of the best moments of the weekend happen when you stop trying to perfectly follow your schedule and just go wherever the music takes you.
More Than Just Music
If there is one thing we hope people took away from Secret Dreams, it’s that this festival is so much more than its lineup.
The festival describes itself as a music and arts festival, and the grounds reflected that. Alongside the stages were live painters, installations, workshops, yoga, games, activities, vendors, and plenty of places to slow down between sets.
There was always something happening around you.
You could spend an hour dancing at a stage, wander into the Woods, stop to watch an artist work on a piece, grab food, meet someone new, and somehow end up at another set without even realizing how you got there.
That feeling of discovery is one of the things that makes Secret Dreams special.
You don’t necessarily come back with the same experience as the person camping next to you.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
The Community Is the Secret Sauce
The lineup may get people through the gates, but the community is what makes them want to come back.
Secret Dreams has always attracted a particular kind of festival crowd: people who are genuinely excited to be there, excited to discover new music, excited to make friends, and very willing to embrace the fun and eclectic.
The festival itself describes its community as dreamers, jammers, bass fiends, artists, art enthusiasts, nomads, and creatives.
After spending the weekend there, we’d say that’s pretty accurate.
There is something about a smaller festival environment where you start recognizing the same faces throughout the weekend. The person you danced next to on Friday somehow ends up at the same stage as you on Saturday. Someone compliments your outfit. Someone invites you to their camp. A random conversation turns into a new festival friendship.
That’s the stuff you remember.
And Then There Were the Late Nights
If you know, you know.
Secret Dreams isn’t a festival where the party simply stops when the sun goes down.
The late-night programming gave people plenty of opportunities to keep moving after the main sets were over, with music continuing into the early morning hours across the festival’s nighttime spaces.
And sometimes the best plan was no plan at all.
No schedule.
No destination.
Just follow the music and see where you end up.
Those are usually the nights that turn into the stories you tell months later.
Our Favorite Part? You Never Really Knew What Was Around the Corner
That’s probably the best way to describe Secret Dreams.
You could have your entire day mapped out and still end up somewhere completely unexpected.
Maybe you discovered a new artist.
Maybe you spent two hours at a set you didn’t even have on your schedule.
Maybe you found a piece of art you couldn’t stop staring at.
Maybe you made friends with the people camping next to you.
Maybe you did all of the above.
That’s the beauty of a festival like Secret Dreams.
It’s not trying to give everyone the exact same experience.
It’s giving you the space to create your own.
So, Was Secret Dreams Worth the Hype?
Absolutely.
Secret Dreams 2026 was a huge year for the festival. A new venue, a massive lineup, a new chapter for the festival, and a community that showed up ready to make the weekend what it was.
Was everything perfect? No festival ever is.
But that’s not really what we’re looking for when we head out into the festival world.
We’re looking for those moments.
The set that completely blew you away.
The artist you didn’t know before the weekend.
The friend you made in the crowd.
The sunrise you weren’t planning on staying up for.
The random adventure that wasn’t on your schedule.
The moment when you look around and realize you’re surrounded by thousands of people who are just as happy to be there as you are.
Those are the moments that make a festival.
And Secret Dreams had plenty of them.

Secret Dreams 2026 may officially be over, but if there’s one thing this weekend made clear, it’s that the Dream is only getting bigger.
The festival has officially wrapped its fifth year at The Cardinal Center, and we’re already curious to see where it goes from here.
